Giving You and Your Baby
A Good Night's Sleep

Should I hire a sleep consultant?

Not only should you hire a sleep consultant if you have a child who doesn't sleep through the night or if you simply want to instill those good sleep habits in your infant from the beginning, but dependency is also a solid reason to enlist a sleep consultant's help.

Well-rested children are happier and more receptive to learning, while well-rested parents are more patient and engaged with their children. Teaching your child to sleep independently is a journey we embark on together, offering guidance every step of the way. You'll receive a personalized sleep plan considering your parenting style, schedule, lifestyle, and your child's individual needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
I don’t live near you; can you help me?
Yes! I offer full consultations by phone and virtually through Zoom.
When is the best time to sleep train?

You can start sleep training as early as 4 months! It IS not recommended to start formal sleep training before 4 months. Newborns from 0-4 months have not developed the skills needed to self-soothe and most babies will require your help to fall asleep until around 4 months. That doesn't mean you can't let them fuss for a few minutes and see if they can figure it out. However, formally sleep training before four months is not recommended.

it seems that as babies get older it becomes slightly more difficult for them to steep train. Older babies (10-14 months) have a harder time letting go of their established routines to fall asleep And rightfully so, as they have had a longer time to become attached to these routines. Sleep training a baby up to the second year of life is still doable, and a more direct approach probably needs to be implemented. After two years I recommend a slower, more hands on approach to train toddlers.

After the personalized sleep plan has started, how long does it take to start seeing results?
Every child is different, but we tend to see significant improvement with night sleep with most children within 3- 4 nights! When we make healthy sleep changes for our children, nights typically come together first, followed by naps and then any early morning wake-up challenges.
Am I able to breastfeed and sleep train?

Of course!  We are HUGE breastfeeding advocates. Breastfeeding and healthy sleep habits can co-exist. Let us teach you how!

Will you ask me to let my baby “CRY-IT-OUT” (CIO)?

No way! Our definition of the CIO method is when you put your child down awake, shut the door and don’t come back until morning. We wouldn’t feel comfortable using that technique with our own kids and wouldn’t expect you to either. We will teach you The Murray Method, our supportive approach where parents reassure their child while they are learning independent sleep skills.

That said; there will likely be some crying involved. How much? It depends on the child. We wish that they wouldn’t cry, but children typically don’t enjoy learning to fall asleep on their own. They cry to let you know that they want to go back to their old method sleeping. Think of it as “protesting” crying.

The good news is that we will teach you methods to minimize crying and give you tips on how to cope with the anxiety it may cause. Also, it won’t last! At the end of the journey, you and your child will be rewarded with a great night’s sleep.

I have heard of sleep training babies, but are you able to work with older children?
Absolutely! Our services are offered for children through age 6. Let’s set up a free consultation to discuss your older child’s needs.
Do you guarantee your services? What happens if I hire you and it doesn’t work?
I cannot guarantee my services because some of the results are out of my hands. Parents play a huge role in the success of the process. Both your commitment and follow through are necessary for success. I will do everything in my power to get you to your goal, but I cannot force you to follow through. Of course mistakes and misunderstandings happen from time to time, but these are easily corrected along the way as we stay in touch throughout the plan implementation. As long as you follow the customized advice I give you and truly want your child to sleep better, I will help you and your child reach the goals we outline in our initial meeting.

BEFORE THE CONSULTATION
  • Look at your calendar and find a time when you have at least 3 weeks of “normal” activity (no vacations, weddings, pediatrician appointments, work schedule changes). Next, figure out a couple of times that you’d be available for the consultation.

  • Once you know sleep training can fit into your timeline you will book a consult!

  • After scheduling your consultation, you will receive a questionnaire to complete. This needs to be returned to your consultant at least 2 days before our consultation.

  • Get everyone on board – your spouse, grandparents, nanny, and anyone else who regularly cares for your little one

  • Get excited! Soon, you and your baby or older child will be getting a good night’s sleep!
